An online friend, Subversa, said about the final installment of the “Sookie Stackhouse”-series that she feels the series “… went out with a fizzle, rather than a bang”. While I enjoyed this particular book much more than expected and was mostly happy with it, I was left feeling that the story arc that led to this particular ending could very well have been reached within a single book instead of more than a dozen.
What makes or breaks a series?
I’d love to hear opinions about that!(I am thinking mostly about my favourite genre – fantasy – asking this question, but please feel free to expand. I’m sure the dynamics of what makes or breaks a series vary from genre to genre, so that’s definitely interesting to talk about, too.)

Lo and behold, 2,500 words later I had written Jericho threesome fic. So not what I had planned...! It's ripening as we speak, so I'll get to it again for edits later this month, but, muse, really?
For the record: today I did manage to get started on the SoA story and wrote the first 1,300 words. So, no more blank page. And my writing muscle hasn't totally atrophied in the past months.

Читаю детям вслух Дубровского. Что за прелесть это тарантино. Вроде, была экранизация? Хороша ли?
Пытались обсудить с детьми теорию эволюции. Дошли до полового отбора. Ну, и зачем нужно половое размножение? Дочь тринадцати лет ерзает, комкает слова и чуть ли не под стол прячется. И я понимаю! Это же он, тот самый разговор про секс из анекдотов и рекомендаций родителям.
К традиции Шавуота (
sthinks, ну никак было не доехать, а жаль) имеет самое прямое отношение: Рут, прабабушка царя нашего Давида, была чужачка моавитянка.
